13 August, 2012 Lilya Abrahamyan, Director of OSG Records Management Armenia, is featured in AMCHAM's spring/summer magazine which focuses on women in business.
The article looks at the fact that internationally, more and more women are taking active roles in their society and choosing to become politicians, managers and entrepreneurs. Armenia has seen an increase in the number of women in business, but there are serious challenges for women who want to become involved in entrepreneurial activities in the country. One major factor is the psychological barrier of entering a male-dominated business world.
Lilya Abrahamyan said: «In our society there is a stereotype that 'for women family and career are not compatible'. However, women successfully combine femininity, motherhood and business acumen. Today, a woman in business is a dynamic multifaceted personality, who contributes to the socio-economic growth. In advanced economies, women own more than 25 percent of all businesses. In Germany - women have created one-third of the new businesses since 1990, representing more than one million jobs. In France - women head every fourth company. In the USA - women own 38 percent of all businesses (8 million firms), employing 27.5 million people and generate USD $ 3.6 trillion in annual sales.
