13 October, 2014 OSG directors met with business information experts at PRISM International’s European Conference in Vienna, Austria, 30 September - 2 October. A range of keynote sessions and panel discussions looked at exciting new developments arriving in the area of document and data management for business.
Jetstreams of information
Information capture and Electronic Records Management (ERM)
Zalina Kanametova, General Director OSG Russia spoke in depth with counterparts from China, the Middle East and Europe about new information capture systems that OSG has developed for Russian business. “Information capture and processing is much more than accurate scanning. It’s about taking vital information from paper documents and sorting it so its useful for clients. Our business information capture systems work 24/7 to an extremely high level of accuracy. It means we process millions of documents every week – particularly for banks, insurance and retail companies. They see enormous efficiency benefits through faster document workflow.”
Information governance and Data Security
With this extra information and data comes big responsibility. OSG sponsored an important keynote session on Information Governance and Data Security which was presented by Andrea Simmons Chief Information Security Officer at HP Enterprise Services. Companies have a legal requirement to maintain good standards of security on data they hold. They have a moral obligation too. A well-publicized data breach can translate into huge PR disaster as well as significant financial penalties. A famous example is USA retail giant Home Depot, who lost a laptop containing the personal information of 10,000 employees.
The Future of Record and Information Management
The conference closed with a panel discussion on the Future of the Record and Information Management Industry. OSG’s CEO Krzysztof Bobrowski, talked about key challenges and what was driving the records management industry today. The shift to information governance, the rising popularity of cloud, and the increased need for electronic record management (ERM) have all been identified as trends that are shaping the future of the industry.
