15 December, 2014 Students of the Russian state humanitarian University made a special visit to OSG's strategic headquarters in November 2014.
In November 2014, OSG records Management invited the top students studying history and archives at the Russian State University for the Humanities to a special open day. Specialists from OSG gave a tour and showed how the storage of documents is organised in the largest commercial archive Russia.
The students specialise in documentation, archival studies and audiovisual communication under the supervision of the Deputy head of the Department of NTEGA of IAS RSUH, candidate of historical Sciences, Professor, Paul A. Küng. They spent the whole day in the OSG centre, where they saw demonstrations of the latest technologies.
During the tour the students were able to familiarize themselves with all aspects of the management and storage of documents and see first hand how OSG's innovative and modern storage centre works.
Director of the OSG Moscow storage centre Roman Medvedev introduced the students to the advanced technologies that have made OSG Records Management a recognized leader in the management and storage of documents in Russia, the CIS and beyond. RSUH students received theoretical knowledge about management and storage of documents in the commercial archive. The students gave their impressions of the tour:
«After graduation I plan to work in an archive. But I haven't thought about whether it's a public or commercial archive.
From everything I saw on the tour, the biggest impression on me was the store itself and how it is organized - both paper documents and magnetic media.».
«This is not my first excursion into the archive. I previously visited the state archives in one of the cities of Moscow region. What I have seen at OSG fully met my expectations - for me, the archive of the 21st century should look exactly like the OSG facility.
Previously I had not planned to work in this specialty, but a visit to OSG and all that I have seen here, changed my attitude to work in the archive. I realized that this work can be interesting and modern».
«I already have experience in the state archives, where I passed student practice. And I thought it very interesting to compare what we learn in theory, in lectures, to how a real commercial archive works.
The main difference between the state archives and OSG - is the stores. In OSG it is more innovative, the technical side is developed much better».
